Salaries by Geographic Location

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' National Compensation Survey provides information on average hourly earnings for occupations and occupational groups for 80 metropolitan areas and 70 nonmetropolitan counties. To show the significance of geographic differences, we have provided the following table, showing selected occupations. It should be noted that the survey included establishments employing 50 workers or more. Private households, agriculture, and the federal government were not part of this survey.
